Janine (she/her) is a registered traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioner in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columba. In addition to providing acupuncture, she is licensed to prescribe Chinese medicinal herbs. She holds a BSc in Food, Nutrition, and Health and is completing the doctoral program in Chinese medicine.

Janine focuses her practice on disordered eating, body image, mental health, sleep conditions, fatigue, digestion, and hormone balancing. Her practice is 2SLGBTQIA+ positive and she strives to create a safe, accessible treatment room and reduce barriers for all people. Please email with any questions, concerns, or accommodations.

She uses various techniques, including Japanese acupuncture, a gentle approach that relies on palpation to help diagnose and treat conditions, and non-needle therapies, such as cupping, gua sha, and Chinese massage. Janine gravitated towards East Asian medicine because it’s grounded in a mind-body-spirit connection.

Beginning her career as a nutritionist, Janine recognized conversations focused on body dissatisfaction and emotional eating. She knew something was missing from her education, leading her to study intuitive eating. As someone who has suffered from eating disorders and mental health challenges, she brings her lived experience into the clinic space through compassion and empathy. Janine adheres to weight-neutral and Health at Every Size® principles, which means all bodies deserve proper care. Her main philosophy is creating a brave, gender-affirming environment, believing that patients are the experts of their bodies, searching for the root cause, and developing customized treatments.

Janine acknowledges that she practices an ancient medicine that is not a part of her ancestry and is committed to unlearning ways that uphold cultural appropriation. She’s grateful for her teachers and the practitioners who paved the way for this medicine to exist today. As a white settler, she is learning what it means to have unearned privilege and how to honour living on the stolen Traditional Territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.
